Dear Michael,
It is with great pleasure that I heard of your presence and your response to the "Celebration of Freedom". I asked Jacques de Guenin, convey to you my book along with this letter. It goes back 22 years ago when Jimmy Goldsmith had tried in vain to convince us that the right in France, conservative, statist and nationalist never had a liberal tradition. What, however, the "second left", the "French left, the one we were standing for then you more than I do, could be rooted in the great and beautiful family of Pierre Leroux and Proudhon.
As for me, thanks to "Goggles to Frederic" I invite you to discover your turn, I realized that capitalism and liberalism were made for small and poor, the same ones that we thought defend our policy.
When you're rich you can live in a socialist society.
You can pay twice:
- with your taxes, hospitals where you shall never make you hospitalize; with your money, the American Hospital in Neuilly,
- with your taxes, schools where you will not send your children with your money, or Alsatian School St. Jean de Passy
- with your taxes, your cops to watch, avenue d'Iena, when you will travel without a seatbelt; with your money, alarm systems and private security guards to ensure the safety of your family and your property.
But when you have only the minimum wage that will do you the keys you € 1003 per month, without knowing:
- that thou hast won € 1,891 and the men of the State, disguised as an employer, you are € 888 monthly, without your noticing,
- on the 1003 € they leave you, they'll extract a further 250 € in the form of VAT, taxes on gasoline and tobacco taxes and local
- that the levy rate at which you're subject is 60% ...
- as the only insurance you pay € 3,360 in annual premiums to the Social Security, while your colleague Annemasse, frontier workers in Switzerland, may create competition between 2000 and mutuals pay only the third or about 1000 € / year
- that to ensure you of old age, they catch you € 4,020 annual premium while it deprives you of the right (limited to officials and politicians with their PREFOND) to organize yourself all alone in capitalizing on your savings. Placed at 5%, a saving of 4020 €, itself an increase of 5% per annum, will ensure you after 40 years a capital of 1 250 000 €! You can dream!
Dear Michael, when you were Prime Minister and I worked with you, we were able to limit to 1% boost to annual minimum wage, while the union demanded 1.5%. At the same time, we fought with CALVET against imports of Japanese cars that would have resulted in a decrease of 20 000 FF in the price of basic cars, 40 times the minimum wage increase that we had been torn. Today, if the market were free, those cars would sell € 2 000, or 8 times the annual earnings for an employee of the last increase in the minimum wage.
Upon my return from China, my dear Michael, I will contact you. I look forward to seeing your bright intelligence now guided by the thought of what Frederic Bastiat that you'll have my book, I'm sure, given the desire to discover.
Sincerely
Emile Jappa
